We all know drinking plenty of water every day is essential for good health. But did you know that your body relies on water for many different functions? While you can get some of the water your body needs from the food you eat, it's important to drink plenty of water every day to stay properly hydrated. But how much water should you drink?

 

How Many Bottles of Water Should We Drink in A Day?

How much water you should drink daily is related to your weight. In short, the more weight you have, the more water you should drink. But you should not consume more than you need. Drinking too much water is just as bad as not drinking enough water. The recommended daily amount reflects the amount your kidneys and heart can handle.

A healthy adult should drink approximately 35 ml of water per kilogram of weight per day. A person weighing 50 kilograms should drink 1.7 litres of water, while a person weighing 60 kilograms should drink 2.1 litres, in a word, approximately four bottles of water.

On the other hand, of course, the amount of water to be consumed may vary according to different factors. Age, nutrition, and a person's activity level can also increase the amount they need to take. For instance, an athlete with two workouts a day consumes more water than someone of the same weight. Additionally, if we take based on slightly older individuals, they drink a smaller amount of water because they experience fewer thirst sensations. And this returns to them as various ailments and problems, as they drink less water than they need.

There are numerous benefits to drinking water every day. Here are just a few:

1. Water Helps Maintain the Balance of Fluids in the Body

Every cell, organ, and tissue in your body needs water to work properly. For example, water:

- Carries nutrients and oxygen to your cells

- Flushes toxins out of your system

- Lubricates and cushions your joints

If you don’t drink enough water, your body will become dehydrated. This can lead to serious health problems, such as heat stroke, kidney stones and even seizures.

 

2. Water Can Help Prevent or Treat Headaches

Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, so drinking plenty of water can help reduce the frequency and severity of headaches. If you do get a headache, try drinking a glass of water first before reaching for pain medication.

 

3. Water Helps Boost Physical Performance

When you’re well-hydrated, your blood volume increases and your heart doesn’t have to work as hard to pump blood around your body. This means more oxygen and nutrients are being delivered to your muscles, which can improve physical performance.

 

 4. Water Helps Aid Digestion

Drinking water can help prevent constipation by keeping things moving through your digestive system. It can also help treat diarrhoea by replacing fluid and electrolyte losses.

 

 5. Water Helps Keep Skin Looking Healthy

Drinking adequate amounts of water helps keep skin looking plump and hydrated from the inside out. It can also help treat conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

 

Tips for Avoiding Dehydration

Dehydration is a condition that occurs when the body does not have enough water to function properly. It can be caused by a variety of factors, such as: not drinking enough water, sweating excessively, vomiting or diarrhoea. Dehydration can lead to serious health problems, so it is important to take steps to prevent it. 

 

Here are some tips for avoiding dehydration: 

-Drink plenty of fluids: Make sure to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day, more if you are sweating excessively or engaging in strenuous activity. You can also drink other fluids such as fruit juice, sports drinks or soup. 

-Avoid diuretics: Diuretics are substances that increase urine production, which can lead to dehydration. Caffeine and alcohol are two common diuretics, so limit your intake of these substances. 

-Watch for signs of dehydration: Signs of dehydration include thirst, dark urine, dry mouth and skin, fatigue and dizziness. If you experience any of these symptoms, drink fluids immediately.
